I really enjoy drinking juices and smoothies. Of course, I prefer to make my own juices and smoothies at home because of the active enzymes and nutrients, but sometimes I need something on the go, or am just craving a juice or smoothie type drink when I’m out. You really have to be careful with some of the things out there. I always try to make sure mine have organic quality and maybe even some super foods, as well as being cautious about the ingredients and sugar content.
Sambazon is a brand that offers fresh and organic juices and smoothies, and frozen products in various flavors. Sambazon juices and smoothies incorporate Amazon Superfoods such as Acai, Acerola, and Yerba Mate. They offer ten flavor varieties packed with antioxidants and omegas 3-6-9. All of these juices are Non-GMO, organic, vegan, gluten free and provide whole food nutrition. Sambazon is Organic and Fair Trade certified and supports the Amazon Rainforest and family farmers.
The store I visited had limited selection of Sambazon, so I didn’t have much to choose from. I decided on the Supergreens juice and the Blended Breakfast smoothie.
The Supergreens juice was pretty tasty. I find that when I drink juices and smoothies, it takes a minute for my taste buds to adjust, but in the end I was very happy with the blend of Acai berries, 6 varieties of greens and ginger. It was sweet enough, but there is no added sugar, which I find a bonus!
The Blended Breakfast smoothie took a little more getting used to. This blend combines whole fruit and ancient grains, chia, and Non-GMO soy milk with a strawberry banana blend. I found this smoothie to have a nutty taste with a hint of strawberry banana. I think I would have preferred a little more of the fruit flavor, but still enjoyed it. I really like the taste chia adds to a drink!
The one thing I’m not big on is the use of soy milk in the smoothie blends I saw at my store. I know that it is Non-GMO, which is far better than GMO, but I’m still not a big fan of soy due to the phytoestrogens. However, I’m not sure what quantity of soy is in this beverage, and if it was an occasional treat, I’d probably indulge. Moderation, right?
