Colic. It’s one of the things that you hear about as a new or expecting parent, but never really understand…until your child has it. The heartwrenching cries from gas pains…the squirminess and inability to settle down…the inability of yourself, as a parent, to do anything to console your child…all very frustrating.

I will never forget the pain my son suffered as a newborn due to colic. Every night, at the same time, he would start to get fussy. Within a short amount of time, it would escalate to the point that I would start crying sometimes, because I felt so horrible that I could not do anything for him. At about the 4-6 week mark, he had his first check up and I explained to the pediatrician what was wrong. He of course was diagnosed with colic, but also with GERD – reflux. So not only were we dealing with one issue, but another issue on top of it!

Dealing with a colicky baby who also had infant reflux was beyond frustrating. I tried every gripe water that I could get at the drug store, without any relief at all. The only thing I could count on helping a tiny bit was gas drops (simethicone). Trust me, I tried every soothing method out there without success. We were prescribed medications, but for a 4 weeks old, they seemed to be extreme and too much (in my opinion) for a new little system and I just could not give them to him.

After much online research, I came across Colic Calm. The testimonials alone encouraged me to at least give one last try at gripe water. As a nurse, I was quite intrigued by the concept of vegetable charcoal in this product. It completely made sense to me, so I had to buy it!

Let me tell you, even though Colic Calm doesn’t appear to be anything special, it was a miracle product for me and definitely worth every penny! I cannot tell you how many times I gave this to my son and within minutes, he would get relief and start letting out the gas that was bound up inside. I even continued to buy this for when he was teething and would get bad gas. It helped a tremendous amount, and probably saved my sanity too!

As a mother who especially did not want to use drugs, I found this a great solution, because it is totally homeopathic, is the only FDA regulated gripe water, and it does not contain ingredients that I did not want my newborn to have.

If you are dealing with a colicky baby, a fussy baby or a baby that has infant reflux, I highly recommend trying out Colic Calm.

The great advantage for you is that this is available at CVS! When I used it, it had to be purchased online and mailed directly to your home (which was always extremely expedient, thankfully!). I also recommend that you have an extra bottle on hand and purchase some sort of pacifier dispenser (this is black charcoal we’re talking about, it can make a mess!).

For more information regarding colic, Colic Calm has created a very informative page to help you understand what you and your baby are going through.

Colic Calm has generously offered 2 of my readers a bottle of their product. If you do not need this for yourself, I encourage you to think about new or expecting parents around you. It is a great product to have on hand for when it is least expected!

Good luck!

I have not had a baby with colic- yet. Our first baby will be here in November. I’m preparing for her by stocking up on colic relief products, swaddlers, and an incline sleeper. :)

I’m currently pregnant with our first, so I haven’t experienced colicy baby “full time” yet, but I baby sit my nieces all the time and their vibrating bouncy chair seems so soothe them a little bit.

My infant doesn’t have colic but he does have “fussy time” that can blow into uncontrollable crying. I have used colic calm before, and it is amazing!!!!

I think my mom would have loved this when I was a child. She says I had colic for 6 months, lol.
